MediaTek Helio P22 CPU Pros And Cons

Cubot P50 CPU Type And Proccessor

  • Processor MediaTek Helio P22
  • CPU Type Octa-Core

Operation System

  • Android 11

Memory

  • 6GB + 128GB
  • Supports TF/SD card up to 512GB extended

MediaTek is a Taiwanese company that produces CPUs more cheaply than the mainstream brands like Snapdragon. Cubot P50 phone uses a Media Tek Helio P22 CPU with 6GB of Ram and 128GB of internal memory. With the P50 you get 128GB of internal memory minus the space of the Android 11 operating system.
Ram is the memory used to run tasks but it's not the only factor determining CPU performance, CPU quality matters.

Helio P22 phones like the P50 can do everyday tasks easily however if you want to play games like PUBG (PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) on the highest setting it will not be smooth unless you set the settings to medium.

If 128GB of internal memory is not enough for you, you can use a TF/SD card to increase your Cubot P50's memory by up to 512GB.

Pro And Con Cubot P50 CPU Summary
Pros
Reasonable 128GB Memory and performance
Android 11
512GB Memory card Extention

Con
Can't handle gaming at the highest settings
Some of the internal memory is dedicated to the operating system and preinstalled apps you cannot easily get rid of.

Display

    Display

    • Descripion 6.217-Inch HD+ Incell Waterdrop Screen
    • 6.217 720X 1520 resolution
    • 90.3% Screen To Body Ratio
    •  19:9 Aspect Ratio
    Cubot P50 Screen Review

The P50's screen resolution is its downfall amongst other budget phones with a 720 X 1520 resolution the display is less accurate than the Samsung Galaxy F22 or Samsung Galaxy A12 Nacho which both have 720 X 1600 resolution screens.

Where Cubot has outdone itself is with its P50's screen to body ratio. It has a 90.3% screen to body ratio the aforementioned F22 has an 83.5% screen to body ratio and the Nacho has an 82.1% screen to body ratio.

I think of a waterdrop display like this, what happens if a waterdrop drops onto water, it creates an outwards rippling effect. A Waterdrop screen enables the screen to ripple out to the edges, in other words, less metal frame and more display. Feel free to let me know in the comments if my explanation does not suffice.

    Advantages Over Other Phones

    Large Screen

Excellent screen to body ratio for any phone let alone a budget phone for some content Samsung Galaxy Note 10 has a 90.9% screen to body ratio and it's around £100 more expensive.

    Weaknesses

Waterdrop screens are not waterproof or impact resistant.

    Slightly Lower than average resolution.

    Possible Solution
Consider protecting your display from oil, water and impacts

    Cameras

    • Main Lens: 12MP Rear
    • Macro Lens: 5MP Rear
    • Photosensitive lens: 0.3MP Rear
    • 20MP Front Camera

Spec Pro High Resolution Front Camera
The front camera is high resolution and a good fit for people who like selfies and or video calls. Just my thoughts Cubot P50 has a face ID unlock so probably a high-resolution front camera is a requirement to ensure the feature works optimally.

    Con Low Resolution

Camera resoltion is not always an accurate represntation of camera quality In Practice the Cubot P50's Face unlock is not actually very.
    Hands On Con
Camera resolution is not always an accurate representation of camera quality. In Practice the Cubot P50's Face unlock is not very accurate and the back camera is not that good either.

    Hands On Pro
The back camera is exceptional for the price.

    Potential Solution
Perhaps Cubot will send an update that will fix the problem.

    GPS

    • GPS + A-GPS

    Pro

(GPS) Global Positioning System and Assisted global positioning.

    Connectivity

    • Wi-Fi 2.4G/5G, 802.1.1 a/b/g/n
    • USB Type-C (High Speed USB)
    • BLE 5.0
    • NFC
    • OTG

    WIFI

As mentioned earlier 5G is not one of the Cubot P50's features it has 5GHZ wifi which is not the same. 5GHZ Wifi is a short-range because 5GHZ wifi travels less far than the standard 2.4GHZ the signals do not bump into each other. In your home when you are selecting your wifi options you can probably see all your neighbour's wifi devices as well as yours. This is because 2.4GHZ wifi travels so far and through walls.

Because 5GHZ wifi cannot travels as far or through walls as 2.4GHZ wifi, the signals do not bump into each theoretically producing faster wifi in some instances. Because 5GHZ cannot travel too far it makes it harder to hack, you can't hack wifi if you cannot get a signal for it.

    Pro Wifi Options
    2.4GHZ and 5GHZ WIFI

    Con

You need a dual rooter to use the 5GH in the first place. You may never use 5GHZ wifi because of its limited range.

    Pro NFC

NFC (Near Field Communication) makes it possible to use contactless payments and receive contactless information.

    Pro Bluetooth 5.0

Faster and more energy-efficient than previous versions of Bluetooth. The most popular wireless Bluetooth phone device is typically wireless earbuds.

    Cubot P50 Earbuds

Pro OTG (USB On The Go)

USB on the go gives you the option of connecting USB devices to your Cubot P50 phone.

    Pro Type-C Charging Interface

Type C USB is faster than regular USB and it has the benefit of being shaped in a way that makes it so you plug it in the right way whichever way you put it in. Easy charging even when your tires.

Pro 3.5mm Port And Type-C USB Port

The Cost of Type C ports is often the 3.5mm audio jack so you cannot use regular headphones. Cubot's P50 has both a Type-C USB and a 3.5mm port so you can use regular 3.5mm audio port devices.

    Pro SENSORS

    • Face ID
    • Proximity
    • Accelerometer
    • Magnetic
    • gyroscope
    • NFC
    • Others(Light sensor)
    Con No Fingerprint Sensor

    Cubot P50 Conclusion

Overall For the Cubot P50 offers incredible value for money with understandable faults given the price of the phone.
