Cubot C8 Phone Review 2018
The first part of this page will cover the first review I published on the Cubot C8 at the when it was new in 2013 and the next part will talk about my thoughts at end of 2018.
Part 1 2013 Review
Cubot C8 comes with pre-installed Android 2.3 like the earlier C7. Black Red Yellow or White are colour options for this phone.
The Screen resolution is higher than the C7.
The most notable new feature to the C8 is the TV Capability utilised through the antenna. Also courtesy of the antenna the C8 is a rare breed that does not require headphones to use as an antenna for radio.
The battery life is superb lasting 7 days with infrequent use. A 1GH CPU allows this phone to run quickly playing games well. The features like WIFi work nicely.
Its speakers are very clear and loud.As expected because of its 256MB RAM, the C8 cannot run anything too demanding on memory.
One of the cheapest quality TV android phones and good to use.
In 2018 Phones are thinner designs are sleeker and sturdier and batteries are built in with one pitfall, replacing batteries is harder you need tools to do so. With the Cubot C8 many sellers included an additional battery which was very useful.
An antenna was rare when the C8 came out and still is, even rugged phones are removing antennas from designs even though they have a practical use. An antenna boost reception requiring the phone to use less energy to gain and retain a signal saving battery.
The antenna also offers users the option of watching live Analog TV which is a lot less useful now because most broadcasters broadcast digitally now.
Games have advanced and although the C8 was just about adequate for low demanding games then I doubt there is anything that you would want to play now that the Cubot C8 phone could handle.
Still a reasonable phone if you just want something very cheap besides the Cubot C7 I think this is the cheapest Cubot phone but given the huge amounts of benefits you get from a slightly more expensive cubot like the Cubot rainbow or dinosaur that are much newer unless you really want the Antenna this phone is just not the bargain it once was.

Cubot Max 5 OTG
You need to use OTG with the Max 5 and I'll tell you why. Cubot's Max 5 is an OTG phone which is not surprising given Cubot's track record and the specific selling point of the Max 5. OTG Can be used to enhance the 256GB internal memory with a flash drive, this specifically is important because you cannot increase the internal memory with an SD card. OTG works with Android and even console controllers so if you plan to use the Max 5 because of its selling point this may be a must-use feature.
